The President’s Picks? Chef’s Kiss

Hello everyone, It’s Samantha from KSP! The marketing team convinced me to start a new series where I talk about things I love and, hopefully, you find it interesting (or at least mildly entertaining). Since our Spring Sale is in full swing, I thought I’d share some of my most-used favourites – plus a few things I’m eyeing and will probably cave and buy, even though I probably don’t need another cake stand. But at these prices… practicality is relative, right?

The MVP of My Kitchen: Dishes

I’ve been using our A La Carte dinnerware since we first introduced it, and let me tell you—it’s the real deal. Simple, classic, durable, and versatile enough for casual dinners or fancy gatherings (not that I have those but I hope someone else is). The best part? You can mix and match to suit your lifestyle. As someone with four kids, a big extended family, and a no-disposable-plates policy, I stock up on dinner plates. But I keep just a dozen side plates and bowls for everyday use.

Here’s what’s in my current A La Carte dinnerware lineup:

✅Dinner Plates: I’ve been loyal to our Oxford plate, but we just got the new Diamond Coupe in, and it’s pretty fancy. Coupe style plates were all the rage at the buying shows last year, and while we’ve always had the classic Ashford Coupe, the Diamond version is a very cool upgrade.

✅Bowls: The Oxford cereal bowl is perfect. The end.

✅Side plates: I love the Bergen dinner plate, but since I already had a stack of Oxford dinner plates, I went for the Bergen side plate instead. Perfect for toast, which is practically its own food group in my house. The Bergen dinner plate always sells out, no matter how many we order! You guys love this shape and it’s got a perfect 5 Star rating.

✅Something You Didn’t Know You Needed: The Blate. Or Plowl? The Ashford bowl plate is part bowl, part plate, and fully lifechanging. The internet was briefly obsessed with the “blate” in 2023, but I never moved on. Some meals don’t quite belong in a bowl or on a plate—this solves the problem. Trust me.

The Cake Stand (or My Year of Humbling Cake Attempts)

A few years ago, I decided I would make a cake for every family birthday. It was… an experience. Some turned out beautifully; others…let’s just say, “It tastes good though?” became a common reassurance. I’ve had this Heritage cake stand for years—it’s been the backdrop for countless birthday candles and kids’ baking experiments. It’s on sale during the event for FIFTY percent off. Also, there are quite a few more options to choose from here.

Butter Dish: Because Butter Should Just Fit

Canadian butter blocks and butter dishes—why is this so complicated? For years, we used a clear butter dish at our house, and let’s just say the crumbs in our butter situation haunted me in the early mornings while I made my coffee. I needed those horrors behind closed doors. Also, it didn’t fit the full block so we either had to cut it in half or squish it in and the lid didn’t fully close. So we sourced this simple, functional butter dish. It fits a full block of butter and hides the crumbs. Relief.

The Serving Line We Fell in Love With

We found this acacia wood serving line on a buying trip in Hong Kong last year, and it was love at first sight. Each piece is carved from a single piece of wood—no glued bits. They’re stunning, versatile, well priced and selling fast. This was us picking out the line in Hong Kong, some pieces didn’t make the cut. I ran to my nearest store the second they arrived and snagged this salad bowl, which I’ve seen at many other stores at much higher prices. Even Paula P agrees with me, check out her review.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid bowl, solid price
“This bowl is beautiful and is a fraction of the price of other bowls on the market. It is solid acacia and not pieced together. Lovely.” – Paula P

The Item You All Love the Most…

This is the best-selling serveware item we’ve had for years. We call it Taco because we display it with taco toppings, but I wonder—are you guys using it for candy? Olives? Different dips? The possibilities are endless.

Since it’s been such a hit, we decided it was time for a refresh. Don’t worry—the classic isn’t going anywhere! But we’re working on a new version with some design updates. Sneak peek below… let me know what you think!

That’s it for now—I promise future emails will be (slightly) shorter.
